Here is my latest iteration of chocolate cake with a molten center. I managed to get a quick picture before I ate it all.
How to make it:
Make half the batter for chocolate microwave cake. In a greased ramekin, put a thin (1/4 to 1/2 inch thick) layer of batter. In the center, add a small spoon or two of some kind of “Nutella.” I used cocoa almond spread (from Trader Joe’s). Put in a few chocolate chips, maybe about 8. Put the rest of the batter on top to cover the center. Cook for 40 seconds in the microwave.
Notes: The increased lava to cake ration made this more delicious. Also the addition of cocoa almond spread made the center more molten-y. The center is more like melted chocolate than a typical lava cake, I think. Maybe to make it more like a lava cake, where it’s not so straight-up chocolate, I could mix in flour or something.
